February is here already, this is the time of year the Corvias maintenance team begins conducting annual preventive maintenance and safety inspections of each home in the community. Thank you for your cooperation as we continue this effort in 2017. These inspections enable us to survey the condition of appliances, confirm that safety systems are operating properly and survey the interior and exterior of your home for potential maintenance issues. During these inspections if you notice anything in your home that may need addressed please notify the team so a service request can be placed. Over the past few years of conducting our inspections there are a few items that we notice, these urgent safety and home efficiency conditions that we would like everyone to be aware of:
Hoses – Remove hoses from exterior water spigots. Hoses connected to exterior spigots in the winter allow ice to form and increases pressure in the water pipes which leads to frozen or broken pipes.
Storage near water heaters or furnace units - We urge all residents to ensure there is a three foot “safety zone” around all furnace units and do not use the water heater closets as storage of any kind.
Heaters- When running the heat in your home it is always best to leave your thermostat on auto.
Thank you for taking the time to check these items in your home. Taking the steps now can help prevent devastating events in the future.
If you have any questions about our preventive maintenance inspections, please contact the Community Office at 316-347-2929.

Military Saves Week begins February 27! Saving your hard-earned money year-round is a great way to ensure your family’s financial preparedness. Take this week to review your saving plans. Set your goals, even small ones, and start saving now. For more information, please visit www.militarysaves.org to review savings tips, tools, resources, and strategies.
It is important to recognize that, despite your savings plans, there may still be financial emergencies that cost more than your nest egg can cover. If you are ever in an unexpected financial emergency, the Air Force Aid Society can help. The Society can assist with living expenses, emergency travel, vehicle expenses, funeral expenses, and other emergencies. For more information, please visit www.afas.org.
Don’t forget! Applications for the Corvias Foundation $50,000 Scholarships for children of active-duty service members are due Thursday, February 9. The application is available online at corviasfoundation.org. $5,000 Scholarships for spouses are due May 4.
